Shelves of rare and antique books in a specialist library setting

Every Book Has a Story Before You Open It

Provenance, condition, edition, binding — we investigate the full biography of each volume. Whether you are building a collection from scratch or stewarding an inherited library, our specialists bring the same forensic care to every engagement.

Capability Matrix

What we do, mapped by domain and depth of service.

Rare Book Sourcing

First editions, signed copies, limited runs, out-of-print titles. We search auction houses, private sellers, and international dealers on your behalf. No finder's fee unless we deliver.

Collection Appraisal

Insurance-grade valuations for private libraries, estates, institutions, and charitable trusts. Each volume assessed for edition, condition, market value, and historical significance.

Cataloguing & Indexing

Full bibliographic cataloguing using recognised standards. Digital or physical output. We handle collections from fifty volumes to five thousand.

Preservation Advisory

Climate guidance, shelving specification, handling protocols, and archival storage recommendations. We work with conservators across the UK and Ireland to address damage or deterioration.

Curated Collection Building

Tell us your interests, budget, and space. We design and source a personal library tailored to your reading life — from contemporary literary fiction to antiquarian science, theology, or travel.

Estate Dispersal

Sensitive handling of inherited collections. We identify valuable items, recommend sale or donation routes, and manage the process end-to-end.

Gift Sourcing

Meaningful book gifts for milestones — birth year editions, signed literary works, bespoke reading sets.

Institutional Support

Schools, libraries, reading groups, and cultural organisations. Advisory, sourcing, or cataloguing on contract or project basis.

Condition Reporting

Detailed written reports on individual volumes or entire shelves. Used for insurance, sale, donation tax relief, or personal records.

Your Journey With Us

  1. Initial Brief
You describe what you need — a single title, a valuation, a full cataloguing project, or something else entirely. No commitment at this stage.
  2. Scoping & Estimate
We assess feasibility, outline the approach, and provide a written estimate. For sourcing, we confirm search parameters and budget ceiling.
  3. Active Operation
Your request enters our pipeline. You receive progress updates at agreed intervals. All sourcing is documented with provenance notes.
  4. Delivery & Documentation
Books arrive graded and wrapped. Appraisals and catalogues are delivered in your preferred format — print, PDF, or spreadsheet.
  5. Ongoing Relationship
Many clients return for further sourcing, seasonal acquisitions, or annual collection reviews. We maintain your profile for continuity.

"The condition report they produced for our Trollope collection was more thorough than anything we'd received from London auction houses." — Librarian, Private Members' Club, Co. Fermanagh

Working Principles

We are not a bookshop. We do not hold stock for resale. Every book we source is found specifically for you, and every service we provide is commissioned, not off-the-shelf. This means our interests are aligned with yours from the start.

No hidden markups Sourcing fees are agreed before we begin. You see the purchase price and our fee separately.
Independent valuations We never buy from clients we appraise. Our valuations are disinterested and defensible.
Documented provenance Every sourced book comes with a provenance note covering its history, condition, and authentication basis.
Confidentiality Client names, collection details, and valuations are never disclosed without written consent.

Based at 346 Jaclyn Square, Dicki Common, Northern Ireland. We serve clients across the UK, Ireland, and internationally by arrangement.
